To know before going to Lebanon
Please read the information on this page carefully.
MONEY
-
Credit or Debit Cards are not accepted everywhere. It is better to assume you will use cash for most of your transactions.
-
The currencies you can use are U.S. dollars (U.S.D.) or Lebanese Liras (L.L.).
-
The rate fluctuates and is currently (6/3/2025) at an average of 90,000 L.L. for 1 USD.
-
Please check regularly the following for website updates on the latest rate.
Our advice is to use U.S.D. whenever you have larger transactions (meals, hotel bookings in case you chose to pay at the property, etc…) and L.L. for smaller transactions (parking fees, snacks, small souvenirs, etc…). More importantly, make sure to ask to have your change in the same currency. So if you choose to pay in U.S.D. make sure you ask first if they can pay you back in U.S.D.
TRANSPORTATION
Once you exit the Beirut airport, you will be approached by taxi drivers. Do not engage with them. It is better to order a taxi from private companies. Common private taxi companies are:
Alliance Taxi (+961 1245555) | Taxi Elegance (+961 9333332) | Allo Taxi (+961 517070)
Once you know your flight details, we are happy to assist you in booking a ride.
Keep in mind there are no tram or train services. The best is to use uber for trips within Beirut. For longer trips, it is more convenient to rent out a car. The common rental agencies can be found at the airport and can be booked through www.rentalcars.com.
